My project works with environment and sustainable development, teaching kids how to live in a more eco friendly way and preserve the Amazon forest that surrounds them. It has it's ups and downs but at the end of the day there's nothing more comforting than knowing that you're doing something important. Working in a kindergarten for malnourished childs and planning classes for 8 to 12 year olds are making me more happy that I could have never expected.
Besides work there are plenty of other stuff to do here in Santarem. Many of the best river beaches are 30 minutes away by bus, there's forest all around you to go and explore or you can walk trough the streets of a developing city getting to know the locals.
The most important of all, though, is that I'm working with a group of people that share my ideals and give a 100% of themselves to make this world a better one. We might not be a lot, but we're doing what we can in order to be part of the change we want to see in our communities, cities and countries. They became my family in matter of days and made this experience a great one.
So, in conclusion, all I can say is that we make expectations on what to wait for and what things are going to be like, but the reality is way better than whatever I could have imagined."
