Facts About Brazilians

So I’ve been thinking about Brazilians what they’re…

1) They’re friendly and warmhearted
I think Brazilians are the best people which I’ve ever met. I can’t compare Czechs and Brazilians – they’re incomparable. These people don’t have the baulks to talk with you. Even though you know each other only one week you feel like you’re almost the best friends. If something bad happens to you, you know, you can rely on them. They will help you although they’ve known you just for a few days (maybe they will be one hour late anyway they will help you J). The same situation is with the poor people. A lot of my friends here give a pittance to the poor.  One thing happened in my house: The bell ringed and there was a really poor woman behind the door. No, “my family” didn’t close the door. On the contrary they opened the pantry and gave her food. It was awesome.

2) They’re open
Brazilians frankly talk with you about each other, about their families and their friends – without baulks. They don’t care that you know them. They don’t want to hide something. They can invite you to their house without any problems even though they’ve known you just for a one hour J. They don’t care to tell you the family story albeit it doesn’t have a happy end. They want to know everything about you, your story, your friends and your country… and after you feel like at home.

3) Touches
Brazilians are constantly touching. I don’t talk just about the hugs but also about the touches during the speech. Every time. J My arrival to Santarém was typical European’s culture shock. I saw a group of young people with signs and I knew they were waiting for me. I stuck – what now? Normally I would come to them and shake their hands but now I see their happy faces that I am finally here. I can’t do this (shake their hands). So I came closer and hugged them. It was convulsive but I saw their happiness. And of course that they hugged me too! J It was really nice. Now, after six weeks in Santarém, I’ve already got used. Every time when you meet your friend you hug each other or at least kiss on the face. Everything here is about the touches J.

4) Let me take a selfie!
Another important reversal in my life. During this one month I’ve been a part of a lot of selfies as many as in my entire previous life J. They’re crazy with their mobile phones and social networks. Let’s take a selfie now and here and in one minute it’s on the facebook. It’s nice to have a common memory – but on the other hand it is only for the social networks cause the quality of the picture isn’t good enough to put it into your photo album J. Ok, my dear friends in the Czech Republic – since October let’s take a selfie every our hangout! J

5) Sugar and bikini
Sugar, sugar and …sugar. Almost every food here is soooo sweet. Every time in a restaurant I have to ask for the juice/fresh without sugar because the basic with the fruit is sweet enough. So I’m not surprised about the figure of Brazilian women. In the park there is a lot of people in the evening – they’re running or walking. But it is 7pm. After their workout they’re going out for the dinner and maybe after for one or two glasses of Caipirinha (which is totally sweet). I do not have nothing against Brazilian‘s figure moreover I think they’re feminine and sexy J. I talked with some girls and they told me “Brazilian woman have a big butt” “I have big thighs” but they didn’t told me it at the table with the pudding but in the park while they were working out. I admire them to go to the public gym to workout (every single day). And what is their reward? They wear bikini at the beach! Brazilian bikini isn’t a myth. I’ve been at two beaches yet and I was the one who had the biggest bottom part of swimwear JJJ. Anyway the beaches are in the itinerary for the September. So you can look forward a post only about the bikini.

6) They know where the Czech Republic is!
From my travelling I’ve learned one thing – to say I am from Europe! It is more easily to say just the continent and if somebody is educated he will ask you from which state you are… Not here. I am introduced as a girl from the Czech Republic and after this there is often a question “Prague?” I must admit this is cheering. In the biggest country in South America they know our small country. In addition Fabio asked me for the Velvet revolution. It was the best of awesome. J

Woow… Today’s post is really long. To sum up… Brazilians aren’t without mistakes – for example the often mentioned “Brazilian time” J. But as personalities they’re wonderful. I’ve never met so cordial and friendly people in my life. Their unfeigned pleasure while you’re trying to speak Portuguese is priceless J. I am glad to meet some of them! J

See you soon,
i.

... but at first .. SELFIES

Fabio and "Štramberské uši" - typical sweet of my region in the Czech Republic

"Štramberské uši" = "the ears of Štramberk" (Štramberk is a small town in the Czech Republic)
